Lovecraft Country is a 2020 web series based on Matt Ruff’s 2016 novel of the same name, blending elements of horror, science fiction, and social commentary. The series, developed by Misha Green and produced by Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams, aired on HBO and received significant attention for its unique mix of themes. Set in 1950s Jim Crow America, Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors), his friend Leti (Jurnee Smollett), and his uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) as they journey through a racially segregated landscape to uncover family secrets and supernatural threats. The show draws heavily on the cosmic horror of H.P.
